The ruins of Tintern Abbey (Welsh: Abaty Tyndyrn) just inside the border of Wales in the county of Monmouthshire. Tintern Abbey (f. 1131) fell into a ruin after Henry VIII’s Dissolution of the Monasteries. The beauty of the ruins inspired William Wordsworth’s poem Lines Composed a Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey as well as Alfred, Lord Tennyson’s poem Tears, Idle Tears.
The remains of Tintern date from a 400 year period between 1136 and 1536.(image from wikipedia)
